This past weekend marked a momentous event in Asian foodie history… We successfully made the World’s Largest Cup of Boba Milk Tea! Thank you to our supportive sponsors and community volunteers who helped turn this “big” dream into a reality. Thank you especially to Tea Bar Starry and Boba 7 for taking on the challenge together to make massive amounts of milk tea and giant bobas for the cup!! Lastly, thank you to Albert & Patricia and the Giant Boba team for following through with this once-crazy idea. None of this would have been possible without all of your hard work!
Now for the fun part… let’s take a look at how the World’s Largest Cup of Boba Milk Tea came to be! If you haven’t watched it already, check out our VIDEO on how Tea Bar Starry & Boba made the giant 5-inch boba balls for the giant cup. We’ll also be posting a vlog of the making of the giant boba cup from this weekend. Stay tuned!
We thoroughly cleaned the cup on Friday afternoon. On Saturday morning, Tea Bar Starry & Boba 7 had prepared 320 gallons of black tea for the special day. Slowly, we began filling the cup with concentrated black tea… later on stirring in ice to cool the tea and dilute it as well.
On the following day, Tea Bar Starry prepared 150 additional giant bobas for the cup than they had for Saturday. We also added more milk tea to fill up the cup! Personally I think the cup looked better on Sunday – we definitely learned from Saturday’s experience and improved upon that! Here’s a picture of the cup on Sunday night before we cleaned it up!
Whew, what a weekend! We hope you all enjoyed the World’s Largest Cup of Boba Milk Tea. If you took pictures from the event, don’t forget to hashtag #DRINKBIG and #626NightMarket so we can see them!
If you missed out this weekend, no worries—the giant boba cup will be back for our Labor Day Weekend event on August 31 – Sept 1. We’re going from 4pm-1am on both nights since Monday is a holiday! Woop woop. More time for the giant boba cup, family, friends, fun and noms. ^_^ See you all in a few weeks!
